Russia Defeats the US in the Huntsman Global Cup

Russia defeated the United States to take home the gold in the Huntsman Global Cup World Senior Volleyball Championships—the only event of its kind in the world. Tournament play took place over the course of four days in October at two different venues in St. George, Utah. Created for volleyball athletes over the age of 50, National Senior Teams from Brazil, Estonia, Latvia, Venezuela, Russia and the United States joined defending world champions Canada to compete in the invitation-only event.

Russia defeated the United States to capture the gold medal in a three-game sweep, 25-17, 25-19, 25-14 in the title match played Oct. 14 at Desert Hills High School. Brazil defeated Estonia, also in a three-game sweep, 25-16, 25-18, 25-15 to capture the bronze medal. The finals of the Global Cup were streamed live on Ustream.com.
