Morgan Beck Talks Beauty

Morgan Beck

‘Tis the season when we have places to see, people to be and want to put that best face forward; so for this month I wanted to do a modern holiday look. I always base the final makeup selection on the girl in the chair and since Morgan has an extensive modeling background and was up for anything, we ultimately settled on this look. I decided on this beautiful red lip because she has a classic beauty and full lips that lend themselves perfectly to this style. Her warm skin and long blonde hair are also the perfect contrast to a bold lip. I started with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Forbidden Red because it wears all day. I didn’t want her eyes to get lost in the look so I used a NYX Glitter Liner on the top lashline to make the eyes pop. To finish her complexion, I used Smashbox Artificial Light to give a glow to her skin.

VBM: Playing with Team USA. What’s the first moment that stands out for you?
MB: The first moment that stands out for me with USA Volleyball is when Jenny [Lang Ping] sat me down and told me I made the team my junior year of college. I was to go home and pack my things and move back to Colorado in a week. I thought she was joking but when I realized she was serious I started sobbing. Probably wasn’t the reaction she was looking for but they were definitely tears of joy.

VBM: Knowing what you know now, if you could go back and give the 17-year-old Morgan Beck a pointer about the game or business of volleyball what would it be?
MB: If I could give 17-year-old Morgan Beck a pointer, it would be to have fun and don’t commit to a college so early in life. Don’t let other people pressure you or bully you into making decisions. Make sure that you are always having fun but don’t let that interfere with your work ethic. Always work hard and strive to be the best because you can be.

VBM: You just got married to Team USA Opposite Matt Proper. What are your holiday plans this year?
MB: I did just get married to the most adorable, brilliant, gorgeous man I have ever met. And the best part of it all is that he totally digs me! Christmas plans this year are very abstract. We are still trying to determine if Europe, New York City, or Hawaii is in our near future. Who knows, maybe even babies? But honestly, as long as we are together, we decorate a Christmas tree and we send out Christmas cards to our loved ones, we will be happy campers.
