Great Expectations in Music

B.o.B, Strange Clouds, feat. Lil' Wayne

Even though we are nearly a third of the way through 2012 already, we are still listening to many of the music label’s heavy hitters that dropped albums in the final part of 2011. Drake, Rihanna, Incubus, The Black Keys, Jay-Z, and Kanye West are all still dominating our radio stations. However, this is the time of year when new artists have a chance to get their music heard and make an impression on the public.

Despite her controversial Saturday Night Live appearance in January, Lana Del Rey has created great interest in her debut album and Gotye’s single, “Somebody That I Used to Know,” is taking the U.S. by storm.

We always have great expectations at the beginning of each year as we hear news about which artists are scheduled to release albums. There will always be rumors of Dr. Dre’s Detox album and a new release from No Doubt, even Jay-Z has hinted there may be another album with Kanye West this year. But for now, here’s a list of recently or soon-to-be-released albums to keep you jamming through the first part of 2012.
