During the men's beach competition at Horse Guards Parade, the reigning gold medalists Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser fell short of expectations, losing to Italy early on in the competition, while fellow American Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal made it to the quarterfinal round in their second Olympics.
