Penn State came out fairly strong at the start of the semifinal match versus Oregon. The top-seeded Nittany Lions sealed a 21-25 victory in the first game, outhitting the Ducks .220 to .133.
But it was in the second game that the momentum started to turn. Although it took them five extra points, Oregon took the second 30-28. From then on, Penn State was unable to regain the advantage for any significant amount of time.
Oregon closed out the match in four set: 21-25, 30-28, 25-22, 25-19.
