On Thursday, Jan. 10, USC traveled to UCSD and were surprised by the Tritions performance, allowing them to take the match 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-20).

It was UCSD's first home match of the season, and they showed their fans what they're capable of, beating USC in three sets for the first time in their 45 meetings, having only ever beaten the Trojans seven times in program history.

In the final game, the Tritons trailed 18-19 before taking six straight points in a row to bring them to game point, 24-19.

Senior outside hitter Carl Eberts led the home team with 16 kills, four errors, and 29 attempts for a hitting percentage of.414.

For USC, freshman outside hitter Alex Straight from La Cañada Flintridge, Calif., led with nine kills.

UCSD rose to 2-2 after this win, but dropped to 2-3 over the weekend with a 3-0 loss to Pepperdine. USC was 0-1 after the loss, but has risen to 1-1 after they upset the previously undefeated No. 1 ranked UC Irvine Anteaters.
