Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
$7.49, 25 towelettes
Megan: The first thing you’ll notice about these makeup removing cloths is their fresh scent. They feel very soft on your delicate facial skin and do a decent job of removing makeup, although the claim that they remove even waterproof mascara is a bit of a stretch. They probably can remove it, but only after a lot of scrubbing. Great for keeping in your volleyball bag, these little guys will save time between class and practice or work and league.
Paul Mitchell Mitch Clean Cut Medium Hold Styling Cream
$16.99, 3 oz.
Matt: I definitely drew the long straw with the hair—my mother sports thick curls and my father is the only man left with hair in his family, and he’s the oldest—but sometimes mine can get frizzy and out of hand. I recently tried just two fingertips worth of the Paul Mitchell Medium Hold Styling Cream and after a long night of bowling and dancing I was still getting compliments on how good my hair looked. And I thought people were attracted to me for my good personality. I guess I’ll just tell myself that the Paul Mitchell stuff is just that good!
Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Cleansing Pads
$6.99, 28 pads
Megan: These cleansing pads provide a great alternative to traditional face wash. The exfoliating side is just rough enough that there’s no question it’s clearing out your pores, while the smooth side is super soft and soothing. The salicylic acid helps prevent and eliminate breakouts, and for me at least, it did this very well. The only thing I have to complain about is the size of the pads – they’re huge! I ended up cutting them in half so that my $6.99 investment would last me at least a month.
Clean & Clear Morning Glow Moisturizer with SPF 15
$5.49, 4 fl. oz. bottle
Megan: “An oil-free moisturizer that naturally brightens skin and provides protection from UV rays with SPF 15” – sounds delightful, right? I was certainly excited to give Clean & Clear’s Morning Glow Moisturizer a try, but after doing so I can’t say I recommend it. The texture felt gritty, probably because of the “skin brighteners,” aka tiny pieces of glitter. I could feel these particles on my skin all day, making me itchy and uncomfortable. The product smelled pretty good, but not good enough to overcome the other downsides. I’d steer clear and stick with a more basic moisturizer and a highlighter or bronzer.
Paul Mitchell Mitch Double Hitter 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner
$15.50, 8.5 oz.
Ryan: This creamy hair cleanser from Paul Mitchell’s hip line of products for men is a great addition to the product collection of every guy, from high-maintenance men to the laziest of dudes. In one quick step it cleaned, conditioned, and volumized even my very fine hair. The simple, but manly scent stayed with me all day. My girlfriend loves it when I buy this product because she can use it, too. She tells me it’s great for longer hair, provided she uses an additional conditioner on her roots.
Kiss My Face Peaceful Patchouli Deodorant
$5.99, 2.48 oz.
Aubrey: If you are a fan of patchouli, this is the deodorant for you. Oder-absorbing baking soda and purifying clay work to keep underarms dry and smell-free. It’s good for daily use and moderate activity. With no artificial colors or parabens added, and no animal testing, this clear stick gets the vegan and gluten-free seals of approval. If you find this deodorant’s patchouli essential oil utterly intoxicating, look for shower gel, moisturizer, and shave cream from the same brand. If not, the deodorant is also available in lavender (pictured), cucumber green tea, fragrance free, and sport.
Kiss My Face Hand Crème
$8.95, 4 oz.
Beata: I’m obsessed with this grapefruit and bergamot scented hand crème. I’ve used it all winter, letting the smell reminded me of warmer and sunnier places. A little goes a long way so you can keep using the same tube for months. It does its job well, banishing dry, cracked hands and replacing them with soft, nourished skin, all without making your hands greasy.
Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel
$4.20, 12 fl. oz.
Ryan: A fragrance-free shaving cream can be a wonderful change from the overly-scented ones made by most other brands. The Aveeno shave gel has a velvety texture and a great thick lather, and you don’t need a lot to shave your entire face. It leaves the skin feeling soft after every shave and does a good job preventing razor burn. Great for guys and girls alike.
