Indoor volleyball players rely on Mizuno. The company makes the most popular volleyball shoes and is always a leader in jerseys, spandex, bags, kneepads – you name the volleyball accessory, they probably make it.
In the past, indoor Mizuno-enthusiasts were not able to make the transition to the beach game still wearing their favorite brand. However, the sportswear company recently renewed their sponsorship deal with USA Volleyball, this time also including all USA Beach Volleyball teams, meaning they had to get to work developing a line of beach competition gear.
Female players will have a choice between a “beach-specific competition top” aka a bikini top and a “crossover hybrid top” that will look more like a sports bra. For bottoms there will be “beach-specific competition bottoms” aka bikini bottoms and a variety of “crossover hybrid bottoms,” something more along the lines of spandex or looser athletic shorts. Mizuno also plans to make singlets for women competing in NFHS and NCAA sand volleyball and full-length beach tights for colder weather. For the men, Mizuno is planning a fully customizable sublimated tank and boardshorts line.
The beach line will be released to the public November 1, 2013, unfortunately not early enough to fit into this summer’s season, but at least we’ll have something to look forward to for next year. (And something to put on our Christmas lists! Hint, hint, Mom and Dad!)
