On August 11, 2007, the AVP gave Karch Kiraly a big goodbye ceremony at the Manhattan Beach Open. A torn calf muscle sidelined Kiraly at the tournament, and for the rest of that final season, but he still went out with a bang. The mayor of Manhattan Beach presented him with this rocking chair to relax in for the rest of his retirement as well as a Certificate of Recognition.
These days, Karch isn’t doing much relaxing. He’s pretty much got his hands full as the head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team, so we imagine that chair sits somewhere in his house collecting dust.
