Stanford’s Kathryn Plummer had the match-winning kill last December when the Cardinal won the NCAA championship.

Now the 6-foot-6 sophomore is having an even better season and is a strong candidate for national player of the year. Her team is ranked No. 4 in this week’s AVCA poll and is No. 5 in the NCAA RPI. Stanford (24-3 overall, 17-1 Pac-12) already clinched the conference title and leads the Pac-12 by four games with two to play.

We talked to Plummer about winning it all last year, making the transition from former coach John Dunning to having Kevin Hambly take over, to her beach career and the stretch run of this NCAA season:
