A proposal has been submitted to the NCAA for consideration in its 2014-2015 legislative cycle to make women’s sand volleyball an official NCAA-sponsored sport with a national championship. In the 2014 season, sand volleyball passed the designated 40-participating schools mark that makes the sports eligible for a national championship and more schools continue to add the sport as we approach the 2014-15 school year. The proposal named 2016 as the target year for the first NCAA sand volleyball national championship.
