Chicago-area volleyball lovers rejoice! Only a month after you witnessed your home-team squad Loyola take down the West Coast powerhouse Stanford in the men’s NCAA title match, high-level volleyball competition is headed your way again. On June 12-13 and June 20-21, the U.S. Men’s National Team will play World League matches in the Chicago area, first at the University of Illinois at Chicago arena and then at the Sears Centre Arena in the nearby suburb of Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

The matches will feature the national teams from Bulgaria and Serbia, two of the three teams joining Team USA in World League Pool B (the fourth is Russia, which the U.S. plays in Long Beach, Calif., June 6-7). The 28 teams competing in World League spend six weekends playing pool play matches for the chance to qualify in the final round and contend for the $1 million top prize.
