Finally … The NCAA women’s season begins tomorrow and sports information directors in charge of their respective programs’ Tweeting can stop the incessant countdowns and actually get to some volleyball.
According to the schedule, there are 206 matches on Friday. Among them are Louisville vs. Illinois, North Carolina vs. USC, Baylor vs. Colorado State, Oregon State vs. Wichita State, Michigan State vs. Kentucky, Alabama vs. Long Beach State, Texas A&M vs. Stanford, and a couple of teams headed east in Washington State at Radford (Va.) and Oregon at Temple (Philadelphia).

USA Men Beat Brazil in 5
Good news for the USA men. They finally broke through after two defeats to Brazil in the World Cup to beat the visitors in five Wednesday, 24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 15-11, at USC’s Galen Center. USA Women Crush Algeria
The USA women decimate Algeria by the ridiculous scores of 25-7, 25-2, 25-5, to improve to improve to 4-1 in the FIVB World Cup in Japan. After two off days, the Americans resume play in Okayama against Kenya on Aug. 30, Argentina on Aug. 31 and Cuba on Sept. 1. Team USA concludes the World Cup in Nagoya with matches against Russia on Sept. 4, Japan on Sept. 5 and Dominican Republic on Sept. 6. Read the recap here.
