A four set win over Russia completed the U.S. Women’s National Team’s sweep of its first pool at the FIVB Women’s World Championships in Verona, Italy. Team USA also faced and defeated Mexico (3-1), Kazakhstan (3-0), the Netherlands (3-0), and Thailand (3-0) in round one.
The team kicks off the second round Wednesday in Modena, Italy, with a match against Turkey. The Americans will also play Bulgaria, Serbia, and Brazil in their second pool. Pool F features eight teams total, and the top three will move on to the third round.
