The top seven teams in the VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll stayed the same this week, as San Diego, Western Kentucky, Creighton, BYU, Hawai’i, Long Beach State and Dayton all won all their matches.

The first change was at No. 8, where Marquette moved up one spot and Wichita State moved down one. Marquette split its Big East matches last week, beating Providence and losing to No. 3 Creighton.

Wichita State lost its only match of the week — to Missouri State, the team with which it’s tied for the lead in the Missouri Valley Conference — to go from 8th to No. 9.

Unanimous No. 1 San Diego is 19-2 and 10-0 in the West Coast Conference, two games ahead of No. 4 BYU (19-3, 8-2).

No. 2 WKU has won 13 matches in a row and 22-2 overall, 9-0 in Conference USA.

No. 3 Creighton is 16-6, 10-0 in the Big East. Two teams from the Big West, Hawai’i and Long Beach State, stayed at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. And Dayton, which has the nation’s best record at 22-1, 9-0 in the Atlantic 10, is No. 7.

SMU moved into the poll at No. 24. The Mustangs are 16-6 and at 9-1 lead the American Athletic Conference.

There were no big leaps or drops as the NCAA regular season reached the mid-point.

  1. […] The Toreros of the University of San Diego (19-2) are something of a surprise in the fifth position in the Net Set ranking, but they have proven that they are definitely “for real.” A San Diego native, Head Coach Jennifer Petrie is in her 18th season with the Toreros and has garnered over 350 wins in that time. On-court, the team is led by Lisa Kramer, Lauren Schad, and Kaity Edwards. It’s noteworthy that the toreros only two losses came at the hands of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Additionally, San Diego is ranked number one unanimously in Volleyball Magazine Mid-Majors Poll, which can be found in its entirety on the VolleyballMag.com website at this URL: (http://volleyballmag.com/vbmpoll102516/).
