BYU moved into a tie with Western Kentucky atop this week’s VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll.
The Cougars, 24-3, improved to 13-2 in the West Coast Conference with wins last week over Gonzaga and Portland. WKU, last week’s sole No. 1, is 27-2 and beat North Texas in its only match last week to finish the Conference USA regular season 14-0.
Creighton continued to dominate the Big East and moved to No. 3 after a week in which the Bluejays improved to 22-6 overall, 14-0 in the conference, by beating Providence twice.
Hawai’i moved up to No. 4, as San Diego, which was upset by Portland, dropped two notches to No. 5.
Dayton of the Atlantic 10, the team with the best record in the nation at 27-1, remained No. 6, followed by Missouri State, Wichita State, Long Beach State and Marquette.
There were no giant leaps or big drops, but the poll welcomed two newcomers, Northern Illinois of the MAC at No. 23 and Cincinnati of the American Athletic Conference at No. 24.
