Washington traveled down the coast Wednesday to play Pac-12 foe USC. The resulting sweep of the Trojans maintained Washington’s undefeated record.
The 3-0 final tally did little to represent the level of competition in the 26-24, 26-24, 25-23 match. Washington scored only six more points than USC and led in kills 53 to 45, service aces 4 to 1, and total blocks 5.5 to 4. USC, however, led by a slim margin in digs, 59 to 56, thanks in large part to Trojan libero Taylor Whittingham’s 24 digs.
Washington (22-0, 11-0 Pac-12) will play UCLA tonight, while USC (12-9, 5-6 Pac-12) faces Washington State. Pac-12 Networks will air the USC-Washington State match at 6 p.m. PT.
