Next week, top beach players from the U.S. and Brazil will face off in an exhibition event called Melhores do MundoWorld’s Beston Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, which will also be the site of the beach volleyball competition in the 2016 Olympics.
The event, running from Feb. 26March 1, will feature the dominant top American women’s duo Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross, and new partnerships between Jennifer Kessy and Emily Day and Summer Ross and Jennifer Fopma will be put to the test for the first time against Brazilian players in the midst of their domestic season. Lauren Fendrick and Brooke Sweat, the No. 2 American women’s team in 2014, will also compete.
On the men’s side, Theo Brunner and Nick Lucena have reunited after playing with other partners in 2014. Theyll be joined for the trip to Rio by Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal, Jake Gibb and Casey Patterson, and Tri Bourne and John Hyden.
